Antitrust/Competition
- O'Bannon v. NCAA - In this landmark litigation (Case No. 09-cv-03329, N.D.Cal.), Jim served as the Hausfeld paralegal from case inception in 2009 through the 14-day bench trial in 2014. Hausfeld represented the class of college athletes who collectively alleged that the NCAA violated federal antitrust law by foreclosing former athletes from receiving compensation related to the use of their names, images, and likeness in television broadcasts, rebroadcasts, and videogames.
- In re Manufactured Home Lot Rents Antitrust Litigation – Hausfeld is co-lead counsel in an antitrust case filed on behalf of a putative nationwide class of manufactured home residents against nine community management companies and a market data provider, Datacomp Appraisal Systems Inc. The Plaintiffs allege that the Defendants conspired to exchange competitively sensitive information and fixed the price of rents at manufactured home lots across the country from at least 2019 through the present.
Environmental & Product Liability
- In re NFL Players' Concussion Injury Litigation - In this high-profile litigation (Case No. 12-md-2323, E.D. Pa.), Jim served as the Hausfeld paralegal from case inception in 2012 through the ongoing administration of the Class Settlement on behalf of hundreds of retired NFL football player clients, including assessing potential claims and ferrying eligible claimants through the settlement process.
- Attorney General of the State of New Jersey, et al. v. Dow Chemical Co., et al. – Environmental litigation on behalf of the State of New Jersey against the manufacturers of the toxic chemical 1,4-dioxane for contamination of the State’s natural resources and drinking water supply, as well as deceptive and fraudulent business practices regarding the sale of 1,4-dioxane products to industrial facilities and New Jersey consumers.
- New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, et al. v. Ford Motor Company, et al. – Representing the New Jersey Attorney General in an environmental justice suit against Ford Motor Company seeking natural resource damages related to environmental pollution near the company’s Mahwah, NJ plant. The State alleges that Ford polluted an area that includes the homeland of a Native American tribe and later concealed the extent of the contamination from subsequent property owners and regulators (as depicted in the HBO documentary Mann V. Ford).
