Antitrust/Competition
At Hausfeld, he is part of the legal team working on:
- The representative collective action filed with the CAT on behalf of some 19.6 million eligible UK iPhone and iPad users relating to excessive and unlawful charges by the Apple App Store. The claim alleges that Apple’s conduct violates section 18 of the UK Competition Act 1998 and Article 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union.
Prior to joining Hausfeld, Kazi was part of the legal team:
- Advising a global telecommunications and systems company listed on the NYSE in respect of an application for review under section 179 of the Enterprise Act 2002 at the Competition Appeal Tribunal.
- Advising on two significant proceedings in the Competition Appeal Tribunal: advising a global investment bank in relation to claims brought in the UK following regulatory findings of misconduct in the G10 spot FX market, and advising a train company in respect claims brought under the collective proceedings regime (the ‘Trains Boundary Fares’ claims).
Commercial & Financial Disputes
Prior to joining Hausfeld, Kazi was part of the legal team:
- Advising an aviation leasing and asset management company in defence of claims in the High Court arising out of allegations of fraud.
- Advising an energy company in relation to multiple arbitrations seated in Hong Kong under the ICC Rules.
- Advising on an arbitration seated in Singapore under the SIAC Rules involving allegations of fraud and breach of contract.
- Advising a Swiss financial services company in challenging the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales in the High Court.
Public Law
Before Hausfeld, Kazi was part of the legal team:
- Advising a public body in respect of a contractual dispute with a key supplier.
Human Rights
Before Hausfeld, Kazi was involved in several pro-bono initiatives:
- Led a team advising two individuals in disputes concerning the duties on local authorities regarding care and support under The Care Act 1998, as a volunteer for Access Social Care.
- Advising Amicus, a non-profit organisation assisting people facing capital trial in the United States in relation to a case concerning an individual on death row in the 9th judicial circuit court of Florida.
