René is partner at Hausfeld in Germany. He advises on the entire spectrum of German and EU Competition Law as well as related regulation such as the Digital Markets Act. He is a frequently recommended antitrust lawyer (i.a. Handelsblatt, Lexology, Legal500, Expert Guides), co-heads Germany’s antitrust lawyers’ association (Northern Chapter), regularly publishes articles and speaks on conferences. He possesses a deep economic understanding.   

René‘s particular focus is on complex competition litigation. He brings actions for damages as well as other antitrust claims, such as for injunctive relief based on antitrust infringements or claims against refusals to supply or access restrictions. He also represents clients in fast-track proceedings (preliminary injunctions) and lodges complaints with competition authorities. In addition, he advises on arbitration proceedings with antitrust implications.

He supports companies in their antitrust compliance, including rules on vertical restraints and cooperations between competitors. In addition, he has many years of experience in merger control, including several Phase 2 proceedings and appeals before the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf and the Federal Court of Justice. He has also represented numerous companies in antitrust investigations (criminal and administrative proceedings) and led internal investigations.

He advises across a wide range of industries and possesses industry expertise in numerous sectors. He has a particular interest in digital markets, where he represents complainants and claimants before courts and competition authorities in antitrust and DMA infringement cases.
